Compulsory Postal Delivery: New Developments in Collaboration between Online Shops and Hungarian Post

In recent weeks and months, intense debate has surrounded the amendment to the Hungarian Post government decree at the end of last year, which makes it mandatory for all Hungarian online stores to use Hungarian Post for delivery starting from March 28. This change imposes significant additional burden on both online shops and the Hungarian Post, while resulting in dubious savings for customers.

Detailed information about the amendments is still lacking, but Hungarian Post has already made available a registration platform for online shops to initiate collaboration.

In business circles, many hoped that this would be a temporary measure or that flexible pricing would be applied for postal deliveries. However, information released by Hungarian Post indicates that the delivery fee is fixed, and if a business does not enter into a separate contract with Hungarian Post, then packages must be taken to the nearest collection point.

While this change may cause inconvenience for both online shops and customers, it is important to note that the services offered by Hungarian Post provide an opportunity for competitive pricing, which could be a significant advantage for customers.

We encourage our customers to familiarize themselves with the new regulations and the opportunities offered by Hungarian Post. If assistance is needed with registration or any other inquiries, we are here to help.
